Job summary

Colonna’s Shipyard, Inc. is seeking a skilled Pipefitter to install, assemble, fabricate, maintain, test, and repair piping systems aboard ships and in shipyard facilities. This onsite Norfolk, VA position requires reading blueprints and joining pipes to meet project specifications.

The role involves overtime, travel potential, and collaboration with other trades to ensure safety and quality across multiple projects.

Qualifications

• Must have at least 5 years of experience as a pipefitter, preferably in shipyard/marine construction, or have graduated from a registered apprenticeship.
• Proficiency in pipefitting, brazing, and blueprint interpretation; strong understanding of piping systems.

Responsibilities

• Cut, thread, bend, and join pipes to required angles and dimensions using various tools and equipment.
• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications for layout and assembly.
• Assemble and install piping systems, supports, and related equipment per project specs and safety standards.
• Conduct pressure tests and maintenance inspections to ensure piping integrity and functionality.
• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on piping systems for safety and performance.
• Select materials for piping systems and assess suitability for tasks.
• Utilize brazing and joining techniques to connect piping components.
• Inspect completed work to meet industry standards and project specs and make adjustments as needed.
• Collaborate with other trades to meet timelines and quality requirements.
• Mentor crew members and provide training as needed.
