Job summary

Trident Consulting is seeking a Buyer - Procurement for a client in San Clemente, CA. This entry-level role supports R&D, Clinical, Pilot Operations, and Operations purchasing activities under guidance.

You will gather sourcing requirements, create and maintain purchase orders in ERP, expediting materials, and communicating supplier updates while learning vendor management and sourcing fundamentals in a regulated medical device environment.

Qualifications

• 2-4 years of purchasing or related experience in a regulated environment.
• Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and PO processing.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• Experience with Oracle or SAP is preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Gather purchasing requirements for new product introductions and routine material needs.
• Create, review, and update purchase orders in the ERP system; confirm order details with suppliers.
• Expedite late or at-risk orders and communicate updates for escalation.
• Maintain part master, vendor, lead time, pricing, and PO data accuracy in ERP/MRP.
• Assist with supplier follow-up, quotes, and vendor documentation; support negotiations.
• Monitor open POs, past-due lines, and inventory signals; prepare basic reports.
• Support supplier quality/audit readiness and maintain purchasing records.
• Collaborate with demand planning to support ramp up/down activities and escalate risks.
