Job summary

Lattice Semiconductor is seeking a Junior BMC Firmware Engineer to design, develop, and validate firmware for server platforms. You will work under senior engineers on OpenBMC/Yocto based projects using C/C++ and Python. Responsibilities include bring-up of hardware interfaces, implementing Redfish/IPMI interfaces, and integrating open-source components.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in CE/EE/CS or equivalent.
• Working knowledge of C/C++ and familiarity with Python.
• Foundational OS/embedded-Linux concepts and hardware basics.
• Exposure to Git-based workflows.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to design, development, and validation of BMC firmware under guidance of seniors.
• Develop firmware features on OpenBMC/Yocto (embedded Linux) in C/C++ and Python.
• Assist bring-up and enablement of hardware interfaces and sensors (I2C/I3C, PECI, SPI, GPIO, PWM/TACH, JTAG).
• Help implement/manageability interfaces (Redfish, IPMI) and security/boot features.
• Integrate open-source components; learn team process for community/LTS releases.
• Debug firmware issues across stack (kernel, drivers, services); escalate hardware issues as needed.
• Write unit/integration tests and participate in code reviews/CI.
• Prepare and maintain firmware documentation (design/interface/release notes).
• Collaborate with hardware, BIOS, silicon vendors, and QA teams.
