Job summary

Veit & Company, Inc. is seeking an Estimator to gather, calculate, and compile data for bid proposals. The role involves collecting prices from suppliers, preparing estimates, and creating bids in HeavyBid under supervision to support timely owner submissions.

The ideal candidate will review plans, perform quantity takeoffs, solicit subcontractor pricing, and collaborate with estimating, project management, and operations teams to ensure accurate bids.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent plus 0–2 years bidding/estimating experience or 5 years related field experience.
• Strong analytical skills and familiarity with estimating software.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to collaborate across organization and with vendors.

Responsibilities

• Review plans, specs, addenda, and bid docs to define scope and requirements.
• Prepare quantity takeoffs and preliminary estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontracted work.
• Solicit and compare vendor/subcontractor pricing and requirements.
• Assist in preparing estimates, bid packages, proposals, and documentation using estimating systems.
