Job summary

Contec - Industrial Automation Solutions is seeking an Automation Engineer in Greensboro, NC for PLC programming and visualization tasks. You will design, program, and test automation solutions, while coordinating with customers and the project team on-site or remotely.

You will lead FAT/SAT activities, generate technical documentation, and support projects through commissioning and aftercare. Travel to client sites is required; a driver’s license is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Industrial Automation, Electrical Engineering or Electromechanics (or equivalent work experience).
• First work experience in automation engineering is a plus.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Fluent in English (speaking and writing).
• Autonomous and team-oriented work style.
• Proactive and logical problem-solving approach.
• Willingness to travel for project work and on-site customer collaboration.
• Proficient in MS Office.
• Knowledge of Schneider; EcoStruxure Control Expert and Operator Terminal Expert is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Develop a function design specification (FDS) from URD and identify optimal solutions.
• Develop PLC programming and visualization (HMI) per FDS.
• Ensure PLC data exchange with parent systems with MOM/MES cooperation.
• Prepare and conduct FAT simulations with clients (on-site or remote).
• Perform commissioning and start-up on site (SAT) and fine-tuning.
• Produce project documentation (FDS, manuals).
• Provide aftercare support as required by the project.
• Coordinate with project team and clients to complete projects.
