Job summary

Advanced Asset Management in Texas is seeking a Junior Assistant Accountant/Analyst to support the Controller and property accounting team in daily financial operations for a multifamily portfolio.

You will help with month-end close, reconciliations, reporting, and coordinating with property managers and shared services to ensure accurate records and timely close.

Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of accounting experience preferred.
  • Experience in multifamily property management, real estate accounting, or property accounting preferred.
  • Understanding of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including reconciliations, formulas, and data review.
  • Experience with property management or accounting software such as Yardi, RealPage, Entrata, MRI, NetSuite, or similar systems preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and follow-through.
  • Ability to manage deadlines and multiple properties in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with both accounting and operations teams.
  • Ability to handle confidential financial information professionally.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close for multifamily properties and corporate entities.
  • Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
  • Reconcile bank accounts, security deposit accounts, and other balance sheet accounts.
  • Support review of property financial statements, budget-to-actual variances, and operating reports.
  • Assist with accounts payable, accounts receivable, rent roll tie-outs, and resident ledger balancing as needed.
  • Review chargebacks, concessions, bad debt, write-offs, and delinquency-related accounting activity.
  • Help track prepaid expenses, accruals, fixed assets, and intercompany activity.
  • Support property transitions, acquisitions, dispositions, and lender or ownership reporting requirements when needed.
  • Work with on-site teams to resolve coding issues, missing documentation, and accounting discrepancies.
  • Assist with audit requests, tax support schedules, and internal reporting packages.
  • Maintain organized financial records and ensure compliance with company policies, lease-related accounting practices, and applicable procedures.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, reporting accuracy, and close efficiency.

Role Overview

We are hiring a Junior Assistant Accountant/Analyst to support the Controller and property accounting team in the day-to-day financial operations of a multifamily apartment portfolio.
