Job summary

Ascension Multifamily in Houston, TX is seeking a Staff Accountant to manage the financial aspects of our multifamily properties with accuracy and compliance. The role focuses on preparing and analyzing financial statements, reconciling accounts, and supporting property bookkeepers to meet monthly reporting deadlines.

You will monitor cash balances, prepare draw requests for lenders on construction projects, and assist with budgeting.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience in multi-family property accounting.
• Accounting degree required.
• Experience with OneSite and RealPage is a plus.
• Detail-oriented with accuracy and deadlines.

Join our successful team as an experienced Multifamily Staff Accountant. Responsible for managing the financial aspects of our properties with accuracy and compliance with regulations.

Responsibilities/Duties

• Prepare, review, and analyze property financial statements and supporting schedules.
• Assist property bookkeepers with any accounting corrections.
• Meet monthly deadlines for property level reporting.
• Monitor cash balances for properties.
• Prepare account reconciliations and adjust when necessary.
• Assist with operational budgeting process.
• Oversee process of invoices for payment by the property, including tracking and recording of lien releases, scheduling of inspections.
• Prepare draw requests for submission to lender on construction projects.
• Review of costs to determine expense vs. capital classification
• Track construction spending compared to budget.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 - 5 years of experience in multi-family property/real estate accounting
• Ability to take initiative and work independently.
• Strong work ethic and commitment to accuracy.
• Detail-oriented with excellent analytical skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively under strict deadlines.

Education
