Job summary

The Quest Organization in Washington, DC is seeking a detail-oriented Property Accountant to manage accounting and financial reporting for a portfolio of large multifamily properties. The role centers on owning the month-end close and ensuring accurate, timely financial statements.

You will work with property managers and senior leadership to analyze results, maintain fixed assets, and prepare reports for owners, lenders, audits, and tax purposes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 2+ years of multifamily property accounting & general-ledger accounting experience.
• Hands-on experience with the month-end close process.
• Strong understanding of accrual accounting and property-level financial statements.
• Strong Excel, reconciliation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with Entrata and/or Elise AI preferred.
• Ability to manage multiple properties, deadlines, and competing priorities.
• Strong attention to detail and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly financial statements and complete month-end/year-end close.
• Perform bank and balance-sheet reconciliations and prepare journal entries.
• Review property income, expenses, accounts payable/receivable, tenant balances, and security deposits.
• Analyze actual results versus budget and explain variances.
• Maintain fixed assets and capital expenditure records.
• Prepare owner, lender, audit, tax, and supporting financial reports.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, acquisitions, dispositions, and accounting transitions.
• Partner with property managers and senior management on accounting and financial reporting matters.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal controls, loan requirements, and ownership agreements.
