Job summary

Interplay in New York, NY is seeking a Junior Forward Deployed Engineer to embed with business lines and translate real-world needs into working software. You will ship quickly, iterate with end users, and own front-end, back-end, and API code, including AI-powered features.

You will work in a hybrid setup (2-3 days in office) and collaborate with non-technical stakeholders, learning rapidly in a high-ownership environment while building practical AI tools and integrations.

Qualifications

• 0-2 years of software engineering experience; internships count.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent.
• Experience with at least one modern frontend and backend stack.
• Track record of shipping applications end to end.
• Solid understanding of APIs and SQL databases.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• U.S. work authorization.

Responsibilities

• Embed with business lines to understand workflows firsthand.
• Rapidly prototype and ship internal tools, integrations, and AI features.
• Translate real-world problems into scoped technical solutions.
• Write production code across frontend, backend, and APIs.
• Integrate AI-powered automation into day-to-day workflows.
• Demo early, gather feedback, and ship again.
• Document builds and hand off durable solutions.
