Brooksource is seeking an entry-level AI Software Developer in Grand Rapids, MI, as part of the Elevate program. The role focuses on prompt engineering and agent quality for a consumer-facing agent, with three openings on a brand-new client project.

The position is a 12-month contract with hybrid work, starting Oct 12, 2026, at $30/hour, and includes technical training, mentorship, and professional development to build your IT career.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in CS or related field.
• Working proficiency in TypeScript/JavaScript, C#, or Python.
• Demonstrable curiosity about LLMs and prompt evaluation.
• Fundamentals: Git, writing tests, reading unfamiliar code, HTTP/REST.
• Clear written communication.

Responsibilities

• Build evals and datasets; monitor quality regressions.
• Prompt engineering for a live customer-facing agent; set tone, refusals, guardrails.
• Debug agent behavior using Langfuse traces.
• Develop features in Temporal-based agent harness.
• Work on Chat UI in React/Next.js; write tests; code review.
