Job summary

ProSearch is seeking an entry-level Staff Accountant for our busy client in Westbrook, ME, to join a collaborative accounting and finance team. This role is ideal for a recent accounting/finance graduate or someone early in their accounting career looking to build skills in a professional environment.

You’ll support accounts receivable, general ledger activities, reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting while gaining exposure to a variety of accounting functions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field or equivalent experience.
• Basic understanding of accounting principles.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Comfortable working with numbers and researching discrepancies.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
• Experience with an ERP or accounting system is helpful but not required.
• SAP experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist with monthly accounts receivable and general accounting activities
• Review and reconcile account balances and research discrepancies
• Prepare and post journal entries
• Assist with balance sheet and general ledger reconciliations
• Review accounting transactions for accuracy
• Research and help resolve accounting questions or issues
• Support recurring journal entries, cost centers, and general ledger account maintenance
• Assist with cross-border transactions and related documentation as needed
• Help prepare information for internal and external audits
• Support ongoing financial reporting and month-end accounting activities
• Work closely with other accounting and finance team members on special projects
