Job summary

The NC Department of Adult Correction is seeking a Judicial Services Specialist (JSS) to supervise and direct probation and community supervision staff. This role includes court processing, assigning cases, and monitoring caseloads with CSAS to ensure timely and accurate handling of cases.

The Division of Community Supervision (DCS) oversees probation, parole, and reentry initiatives, collaborating with courts and other agencies to safeguard public safety and support offender rehabilitation.

Qualifications

• Communicate effectively both orally and in writing with judiciary officials and the general public.
• Experience presenting professionally in a highly visible Community Supervision role.
• Ability to work as part of a team on court intake activities.
• Ability to work independently under direction from the Chief Probation/Parole Officer.
• Excellent time management and organizational skills under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Supervise staff, assign cases, and monitor caseloads via CSAS.
• Interview offenders and enter data into OPUS/CSAS/ICOTS.
• Determine if interpreter services or ADA accommodations are needed.
• Process intrastate and interstate transfer cases from court.
• Review staff work to ensure timeliness and accuracy.
• Oversee intake of new supervised/unsupervised probation cases.
