Job summary

Rycon Construction seeks an experienced traveling superintendent for our Cleveland office to oversee field operations on multiple projects. You will coordinate daily subcontractor activities, manage schedules and budgets, and ensure safety compliance.

The role requires at least five years of supervisory experience, strong knowledge of commercial trades, and the ability to travel 40–60%. A commitment to quality and on-time delivery is essential.

Qualifications

  • Five (5) or more years of construction supervisory experience in new construction or renovation/fit-out.
  • Ability to travel 40–60% and manage out-of-town work.
  • Advanced knowledge of trades in commercial construction.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, contracts and specifications.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and communicate project schedules to plan activities and support PM scheduling.
  • Coordinate daily activities for all subcontractors and manage work to design, budget, and schedule.
  • Manage project budgets and submit invoices in a timely manner.
  • Prepare daily site log reports with conditions, manpower, and activities.
  • Enforce safety procedures per OSHA and company requirements.
  • Lead pre-installation safety evaluations with contractors.
  • Maintain a clean and organized site and ensure tools are in working order.
  • Schedule inspections and coordinate regulatory compliance.
  • Monitor construction procedures to ensure quality.
  • Keep project management informed of status and issues that affect progress.
  • Respond to onsite incidents and emergencies as needed.

We are seeking an experienced traveling superintendent for our Cleveland office

What you will do:
  • Prepare and communicate project schedule to plan upcoming activities and stay on target. Provides ongoing scheduling input to Project Management staff for all scheduling efforts.
  • Coordinates the daily activities for all subcontractors at any stage of construction. Completes all project construction in accordance with design, budget and schedule.
  • Manages construction budgets set by the Project Manager, tracking construction costs, and submitting all invoices to Accounting in a timely manner.
  • Prepares daily log reports for the site conditions, manpower and activities in sufficient detail.
  • Ensures all parties follow all safety procedures and practices according to both OSHA and company requirements.
  • Conducts pre-installation safety evaluations and action plans with contractors to ensure work actives are conducted in the safest manner possible.
  • Maintains the construction site clean and organized.
  • Ensures appropriate machinery and tools are available to assigned construction workers and that hand tools and power tools are in proper working order.
  • Schedules and participates in necessary inspections required by local and state regulations. Organizes final inspections for completed work.
  • Monitors daily construction procedures to make sure that proper quality is achieved.
  • Maintains consistent daily communication with project management staff to ensure all parties are informed of current project status and potential issues affecting progress.
  • Respond to onsite incidents and emergencies per company produces.
What you will need to be successful:
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ construction supervisory experience in new construction and/or renovation/fit-out disciplines.
  • The ability to travel and manage out-of-town work. Expected percentage of travel is 40 to 60%
  • Advanced knowledge of associated trades in all aspects of commercial construction.
  • The ability to read and interpret drawings, contracts and specifications.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations.
  • Experience scheduling work, materials, manpower, subcontractors and equipment.
  • Computer skills required – Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Ability to endure frequent activity such as standing, walking, climbing, bending, reaching above the shoulder, pushing, and pulling.
  • Occasional activity includes sitting and completing work via a computer or laptop.
