Job summary

Lechler, Inc. is seeking a project engineer to work independently on challenging mechanical design and project management tasks, from initial design to commissioning of skids, lances, headers, showers, and systems.

You will collaborate with project and design engineers, manufacturers, purchasing, suppliers, and customers’ engineers to solve problems, perform calculations, and validate performance through testing. English proficiency is essential; travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Engineering from an accredited institution; Mechanical Engineering preferred.
• Minimum 1 year of practical engineering experience in manufacturing, assembly, or similar industry.
• Piping design and fabrication experience preferred.
• Piping and pumping systems experience a plus.
• Instrumentation knowledge a plus.
• English proficiency required; German or Spanish a plus.
• Autodesk Inventor or 3D software highly preferred.
• Knowledge of General Dimensioning and Tolerance; interpret drawings.
• Domestic travel may be required; extended travel possible.

Responsibilities

• Review and determine project specifications by studying product design, customer requirements, and performance standards.
• Develop project objectives and plan with management.
• Determine project schedule and stakeholders by identifying project phases and elements.
• Perform engineering calculations for liquids and gases in pipes including pipe sizing, pressure drops, and velocities.
• Specify equipment such as pump/fan and control valve specifications to meet standards.
• Maintain project schedule by monitoring progress and resolving problems.
• Develop and apply Lechler standards and test procedures to validate performance.
• Create functional descriptions and process flow diagrams for automation/PLC programming of fluid handling equipment.
• Commission projects that include mechanical and electrical components.
• Document, maintain, and organize files per QMS; create operation manuals.

Summary:This position will require working independently on challenging and demanding projects to complete engineering projects by organizing and controlling project elements. It will require mechanical design and project management skills to construct skids, lances, headers, showers, and systems from the initial design phase to the commission phase: include trouble-shooting, shipping, and testing. In addition, this position entails working with Lechler’s project & design engineers, manufacturers, purchasing, suppliers, and customers’ engineers to solve situational problems.Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (other duties may be assigned)Review and determine project specifications by studying product design, customer requirements, and performance standards, including technical studies and industry applicable standards.Develop project objectives by reviewing project proposals and plan with management.Determine project schedule and stakeholders by identifying project phases and elements.Perform engineering calculations for liquids and gases in pipes including, but not limited to pipe sizing, pressure drops, allowable pressures, allowable fluid velocities.Specify and select equipment such as pump/fan and control valve specifications to meet customer and Lechler standards and specifications.Manage effective and transparent communication with all project stakeholdersMaintain project schedule by monitoring project progress, coordinating activities, and resolving problemsUse sound judgment to apply design standards and specifications to determine the most cost-effective fabrication methods.Develop and apply Lechler standards and test procedures to validate required performance.Confirm product performance by designing and conducting tests.Create functional descriptions and process flow diagrams for the automation/PLC programming of fluid handling equipment.Commission projects that include mechanical and electrical components.Document, maintain, and organize files according to Lechler, Inc.
