Job summary

Plotsy is seeking a Junior Production Designer to transform literature into visual worlds using our Cineversion AI pipeline. You will create character references, environments, and color scripts, collaborating with the design team to maintain visual consistency across scenes and lighting.

You will learn our AI tool stack, apply feedback quickly, and organize assets for seamless handoffs to directors and editors.

Qualifications

• Degree in Fine Arts, Illustration, Concept Art, Animation or equivalent portfolio.
• Strong grounding in anatomy, perspective, and lighting; ability to clean up assets in Photoshop.
• Familiarity with or willingness to master production-grade AI tools (Midjourney, Stable Diffusion, ControlNet).
• Growth mindset with ability to take artistic direction and work in a fast-paced team.
• Strong organizational habits and repeatable workflows.

Responsibilities

Plotsy is pioneering the Plotsy vBook™—transforming written books into cinematic, episodic videos through our proprietary, AI-driven Cineversion™ process. As a Junior Production Designer , you will play a hands-on role in bringing these worlds to life. You will execute beautiful designs, learn our cutting-edge AI production pipeline, and ensure visual assets meet our high standards for consistency and quality.

How You Will Spend Your Time

• 60% Design Execution & Asset Creation: You will be on the front lines of production, generating character references, environments, and color keys based on established show blueprints and design playbooks.
• 20% Pipeline Training & AI Optimization: You will spend dedicated time learning Plotsy’s proprietary Cineversion™ process, mastering our AI tool stack, and studying how to optimize generations for downstream motion and rendering.
• 10% Technical QC & File Organization: You will organize and maintain structured asset libraries, ensuring file conventions are perfectly executed so that Directors and Editors can seamlessly deploy them.
• 10% Collaborative Review: You will participate in regular review sessions with our Senior Production Designer and Showrunners, taking constructive feedback and implementing rapid revisions to polish assets.

Daily Responsibilities

• Execute Visual DNA: Translate book prose into foundational design assets—including character reference sheets, architectural environments, and emotional color scripts—using established style guides.
• Maintain Character Consistency: Apply strict attention to detail to ensure characters maintain structural continuity across varied lighting, wardrobe changes, and cinematic angles.
• Organize Asset Handoffs: Strictly adhere to structural asset conventions and standard naming structures to keep production libraries organized.
• Iterate and Refine: Assist with rapid design revisions and digital paint-overs when assets fail or distort during the motion and rendering pipeline phases.

What You Must Bring

• Art or Design Foundation: A degree in Fine Arts, Illustration, Concept Art, Animation, or equivalent portfolio demonstrating a strong grasp of visual storytelling.
• Core Technical Art Skills: Strong grounding in anatomy, perspective, and lighting. You must have the digital painting skills (e.g., Photoshop) to manually clean up, modify, and fix visual assets.
• Interest in Generative AI: Familiarity with or a strong desire to master production-grade AI tools (e.g., Midjourney, Stable Diffusion, ControlNet). Prior experience is a plus, but a willingness to learn our specific workflow is essential.
• Coachability & Eagerness to Learn: A growth mindset with the ability to take artistic direction, apply feedback quickly, and thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment.
• Systems Mindset: Strong organizational habits with an appreciation for file structures, naming conventions, and repeatable workflows.
