Job summary

Aether Aerospace in Hollywood, MD is seeking a skilled Machinist to support high-precision defense programs. Immediate start, day shift, and a path to grow with a company investing in tooling, processes, and continuous improvement.

You will program, set up, and operate CNC lathes and multi-axis mills, inspect parts with tight tolerances, and adhere to AS9100 quality practices in a fast-paced team environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with 1+ years of relevant experience.
• Ability to obtain Secret clearance.
• Experience with CNC programming and CAM software.

Responsibilities

• Program, set up, and operate CNC live tool lathes.
• Program and operate 3-, 4-, and 5-axis CNC mills.
• Set up general shop equipment (shears, drill presses, mills, lathes).
• Review drawings and blueprints; take precise measurements.
• Maintain tooling inventory and support AS9100 processes.
• Produce parts with tight tolerances and maintain quality.

Location: Hollywood, MD and Day Shift: 6am-4pm Mon-Thur and 6am-3pm Friday

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Program, setup andoperateCNC Live tool lathes
• Program, setup andoperate3, 4, and 5 Axis CNC milling machines.
• Setup andoperategeneral shop equipment such as shears, drill presses, manualmillsand lathes.
• Program CNC machines using CAM software
• Reviews drawings, instructions, blueprints
• Takes precise measurements to ensure quality is met using calipers, height gauges, gauge pins, etc.
• Selectsappropriate toolingto complete task.
• Plans proper sequence of tasks to complete the assignment.
• Design and create fixturing and work-holding for complex parts.
• Help tomaintaintooling inventory.
• Provide material sizes and run times for quoting purposes.
• Quality check in process parts to ensure parts meet specs.
• Identifiesneed for and performs machine maintenance and minor repairs.
• Maintains a safe and clean workstation.
• Contributes to team effort byaccomplishingrelated tasks as needed.
• Operate CNC Waterjet to cut raw stock
• Understand requirements for AS9100 projects
• Complete documentation to ensure AS9100 procedures are followed.
• Hardware installation/CNC Press brake operator a plus.
• Produce parts with tolerances as low as +/- .0005

KEY QUALIFICATIONS

Clearance: Ability toobtain Secret Clearance

Education and Years of Experience: High School Diploma/GED and 1+ years of relevant experience

• Proficient with Solidworks/Inventor
• Excellent coordination and mechanical skills
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and safety
• Solid written and verbal communication skills
• Strong computer skills
• Ability to lift upto 50 pounds and perform repetitive tasks
• Ability to work with little supervision
• Ability to work in a high paced environment
• Ability to work in a team environment
• Abilityto provide constructive alternatives/approaches to solving issues
• Ability to be flexible
• Strong senseof urgency for critical tasks
• Must be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously while effectively managing schedule and communicating process

$20.43 - $25.59 an hour

There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, geographic location, education, and certifications.
