Job summary

Aether Aerospace in Hollywood, MD is seeking a CNC Machinist to join a full-time, permanent team. You will program, set up, and operate CNC lathes and mills, use CAM software, and ensure precision tolerances on critical parts.

The role requires 8+ years CNC experience, a high level of craftsmanship, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment while adhering to AS9100 procedures and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Must have 8+ years CNC experience and programming.

Responsibilities

• Program, set up and operate CNC live tool lathes.
• Program, set up and operate 3, 4, and 5 axis CNC milling machines.
• Set up and operate general shop equipment such as shears, drill presses, mills and lathes.
• Program CNC machines using CAM software.
• Read drawings, instructions, blueprints.
• Measure with calipers and gauges to ensure tolerances.
• Design fixtures and work-holding for complex parts.
• Maintain tooling inventory and provide run times for quoting.
• Ensure AS9100 procedures are followed and documentation is complete.

Location: Hollywood, MD and Day Shift: 6am-4pm Mon-Thur and 6am-3pm Friday

The proposed salary range for this position is $35.47 - $48.08/hr based on experience. There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, geographic location, education, and certifications.

Responsibilities

• Program, setup and operate CNC Live tool lathes
• Program, setup and operate 3, 4, and 5 Axis CNC milling machines.
• Setup and operate general shop equipment such as shears, drill presses, manual mills and lathes.
• Program CNC machines using CAM software
• Reviews drawings, instructions, blueprints
• Takes precise measurements to ensure quality is met using calipers, height gauges, gauge pins, etc.
• Selects appropriate tooling to complete task.
• Plans proper sequence of tasks to complete the assignment.
• Design and create fixturing and work-holding for complex parts.
• Help to maintain tooling inventory.
• Provide material sizes and run times for quoting purposes.
• Quality check in process parts to ensure parts meet specs.
• Identifies need for and performs machine maintenance and minor repairs.
• Maintains a safe and clean workstation.
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed.
• Operate CNC Waterjet to cut raw stock
• Understand requirements for AS9100 projects
• Complete documentation to ensure AS9100 procedures are followed.
• Hardware installation/CNC Press brake operator a plus.
• Produce parts with tolerances as low as +/- .0005

Key Qualifications

Clearance: Ability to obtain Secret Clearance

Education and Years of Experience

Education: High School Diploma/GED and 8 years minimum CNC experience/programming

• Proficient with Solidworks/Inventor
• Excellent coordination and mechanical skills

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform repetitive tasks
