Job summary

Aether Aerospace, part of EXPANSIA Group, is seeking a CNC Machinist to join a defense-focused engineering team in Hollywood, MD. The role emphasizes precision, rapid yet thorough workmanship, and continuous improvement on critical programs.

Willingness to work day shifts and maintain a safe, clean workspace is essential. The candidate should have substantial CNC experience, strong math and measurement skills, proficiency with Solidworks/Inventor, and the ability to program and operate 3–5 axis

Qualifications

• Must have a High School Diploma or GED. 8+ years CNC experience/programming preferred.
• Excellent coordination and mechanical skills.
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and safety.
• Solid written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Program, setup and operate CNC Live tool lathes.
• Program, setup and operate 3, 4, and 5 Axis CNC milling machines.
• Setup and operate general shop equipment such as shears, drill presses, mills and lathes.
• Program CNC machines using CAM software.
• Reviews drawings, instructions, blueprints.
• Takes precise measurements to ensure quality using calipers, height gauges, etc.
• Selects tooling and plans task sequence.
• Designs fixturing for complex parts.
• Maintain tooling inventory and provide run times for quotes.
• Quality check in-process parts for specs.
• Identify and perform machine maintenance and minor repairs.
• Operate CNC Waterjet and understand AS9100 requirements.
• Complete documentation to ensure AS9100 procedures.

Location: Hollywood, MD and Day Shift: 6am-4pm Mon-Thur and 6am-3pm Friday

The proposed salary range for this position is $35.47 - $48.08/hr based on experience. There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, geographic location, education, and certifications.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Program, setup andoperateCNC Live tool lathes

• Selectsappropriate toolingto complete task.

• Plans proper sequence of tasks to complete the assignment.

• Design and create fixturing and work-holding for complex parts.

• Help tomaintaintooling inventory.

• Provide material sizes and run times for quoting purposes.

• Quality check in process parts to ensure parts meet specs.

• Identifiesneed for and performs machine maintenance and minor repairs.

• Maintains a safe and clean workstation.

• Contributes to team effort byaccomplishingrelated tasks as needed.

• Operate CNC Waterjet to cut raw stock

• Understand requirements for AS9100 projects

• Complete documentation to ensure AS9100 procedures are followed.

• Hardware installation/CNC Press brake operator a plus.

• Produce parts with tolerances as low as +/- .0005

KEY QUALIFICATIONS

Clearance: Ability to obtain Secret Clearance
Education and Years of Experience: High School Diploma/GED and8 yearsminimumCNC experience/programming
