Job summary

Aether Aerospace in Hollywood, MD is seeking a Mid-Level Machinist who takes pride in precision, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and wants to contribute to defense programs that demand craftsmanship, innovation, and continuous improvement.

You will program, set up, and operate 3-, 4-, and 5-axis CNC machines, run CAM software, inspect parts with calipers and gauges, create fixtures, and help maintain tooling and documentation to AS9100 standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED and 4+ years CNC experience/relevant experience.
• Proficient with Solidworks/Inventor for part design or interpretation.
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and safety in a fast-paced shop.
• Ability to work in a team and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Program, setup and operate CNC live tool lathes.
• Program, setup and operate 3-, 4-, and 5-axis CNC milling machines.
• Set up and operate general shop equipment (shears, drill presses, mills, lathes).
• Program CNC machines using CAM software and review drawings/blueprints.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Program, setup andoperateCNC Live tool lathes
• Program, setup andoperate3, 4, and 5 Axis CNC milling machines.
• Setup andoperategeneral shop equipment such as shears, drill presses, manualmillsand lathes.
• Program CNC machines using CAM software
• Reviews drawings, instructions, blueprints
• Takes precise measurements to ensure quality is met using calipers, height gauges, gauge pins, etc.
• Selectsappropriate toolingto complete task.Plans proper sequence of tasks to complete the assignment.
• Design and create fixturing and work-holding for complex parts.
• Help tomaintaintooling inventory.
• Provide material sizes and run times for quoting purposes.
• Quality check in process parts to ensure parts meet specs.
• Identifiesneed for and performs machine maintenance and minor repairs.
• Maintains a safe and clean workstation.
• Contributes to team effort byaccomplishingrelated tasks as needed.
• Operate CNC Waterjet to cut raw stock
• Understand requirements for AS9100 projects
• Complete documentation to ensure AS9100 procedures are followed.
• Hardware installation/CNC Press brake operator a plus.
• Produce parts with tolerances as low as +/- .0005

KEY QUALIFICATIONS

Clearance: Ability toobtain Secret Clearance

Education and Years of Experience: High School Diploma/GED and 4+ years minimum CNC experience/programming/relevant experience

• Proficient withSolidworks/Inventor
• Excellent coordination and mechanical skills
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and safety
• Solid written and verbal communication skills
• Strong computer skills
• Ability tolift upto 50 pounds and perform repetitive tasks
• Ability to work with little supervision

• Must be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously while effectively managing schedule and communicating process

$23.67 - $35.56 an hour

There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, geographic location, education, and certifications.
