Job summary

Peraton is seeking a Jr./Entry-Level Systems Engineer for Integration & Test (SEIT) to support NASA at Wallops Flight Facility in VA. You will join the SENSE team, helping design, integrate, test, and operate space-ground systems to enable current and future missions.

You will work with cross-functional groups to develop system requirements, create test plans, perform system-level testing in GSTF, and assist with orbital and launch operations, with travel as needed for DTE activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in an Engineering discipline with 0–2+ years of related experience.
• Experience with development, integration, and test within systems engineering.
• Experience with Test Automation Tools and scripting (C++, Python, MATLAB, Perl, UNIX).
• Experience with Windows and Linux servers (RedHat, CentOS).
• Proficiency using MS Office for briefings, schedules, documents, and Excel manipulation.
• Ability to travel for several weeks per year for DTE activities.
• Eligibility for a Public Trust background check and ability to obtain Secret clearance.
• U.S. citizenship is required.

Required Experience:

• A Bachelor of Science degree in an Engineering discipline (Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering), and 0 - 2+ years of related academic or professional technical experience
• Experience with development, integration, and test (I&T) within the systems engineering function
• Experience with Test Automation Tools and Practices, including scripting (C++, Python, MATLAB, Perl, UNIX)
• Experience with Windows and Linux servers (RedHat, CentOS)
• Experience using Microsoft (MS) Office Tools to produce PowerPoint briefings, MS Project schedules, MS Word documents, and generate and manipulate Excel files
• Ability to travel for up to several weeks each year to support DTE activities
• This position requires a “Public Trust” background check with the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security clearance.
• Must be a US citizen.

DESIRED EXPERIENCE:

• Software development and familiarity with scripting languages
• Familiarity with the NASA, space or ground station antenna systems, and satellite communications networks
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy while understanding broader technical issues
• Excellent organizational skills such as prioritizing and completing multiple tasks within critical deadlines

Peraton is seeking a Jr./Entry-Level Systems Engineer for Integration & Test (SEIT) supporting our NASA customer based at Wallops Flight Facility in VA.

As prime contractor on the Peraton Space Exploration Networks Services and Evolution (SENSE) contract, Peraton is responsible for the operation, maintenance, sustainment and systems engineering of NASA’s worldwide satellite communication networks.In this position, you will become part of NASA’s return to the moon, support new earth and space science missions, and launch vehicles. You will be an integral part of a world class team that ensures NASA space-ground communications are reliable and meet mission requirements.

The SENSE Direct to Earth (DTE) SEIT team supports cross functional disciplines such as Hardware/Software Engineering and System Engineering for the DTE projects. This will include study, design, development, integration, testing, verification and operations of spaceflight, airborne and ground system hardware and software, including development and validation of new technologies to enable future space and science missions.

Assignments will include a variety of engineering tasks such as:

• Support development of system requirements and interface documentation
• Support developing and integrating various technology for critical mission projects
• Support, develop, and execute test plans and system review packages
• Perform system level testing with ground systems equipment for end-to-end testing in the Ground Station Testing Facility (GSTF)
• Support GSTF management tasks involving DTE hardware and software
• Support orbital and launch operations activities
• Collaborate with the Operations, IT Security, Mission Assurance and Task Order Leads to support Task Order requirements and deliverables across the program functional elements.
