Job summary

Soni Resources Group is partnering with a client in Robbinsville Township, NJ to fill a Jr Accountant role. The position supports daily financial operations with a focus on cash-to-sales reconciliation, merchant services auditing, and variance resolution across retail and e-commerce channels.

The Jr Accountant will collaborate with store management to resolve discrepancies promptly and assist with month-end close, journal entries, and audit preparation.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of general accounting & reconciliations experience.
• Retail or multi-location experience is a plus.
• SAP or similar ERP experience strongly preferred; e-commerce reconciliation experience beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Reconcile daily cash, credit card, and merchant service deposits to sales reports for retail and e-commerce.
• Perform manual reconciliations between retail systems, SAP, and merchant service providers for US and Canada.
• Investigate and resolve variances between recorded sales and actual receipts; escalate when needed.
• Maintain and clear sub-cash accounts (511*) with accurate journal entries.
• Complete high-volume bank and sub-ledger reconciliations including heavier e-commerce workloads.

Job description

Soni is partnering with a client on the search for a Jr Accountant. The Junior Accountant supports daily financial operations with a focus on cash-to-sales reconciliation, merchant services auditing, and variance resolution across retail and e-commerce channels. This role ensures sales activity aligns with cash, credit card, and merchant deposits while maintaining accurate clearing accounts and partnering with store management to resolve discrepancies promptly.

Responsibilities:

Reconciliation & Audit

• Reconcile daily cash, credit card, and merchant service deposits to system-generated sales reports (retail and e-commerce).
• Perform manual reconciliations between retail systems, SAP, and merchant service providers for US and Canada.
• Investigate and resolve variances between recorded sales and actual receipts; esc??
• Maintain and clear sub?cash accounts (511*), ensuring proper mapping and journal entry accuracy.
• Complete high-volume bank and sub?ledger reconciliations, including heavier e-commerce reconciliation workloads.

Store & Cross-Functional Support

• Communicate with store managers regarding discrepancies, missing documentation, and register variances.
• Provide clear, professional guidance to ensure timely issue resolution and improved documentation accuracy.
• Collaborate with accounting leadership to refine processes once core responsibilities are mastered.

Month-End, Year-End & Audit

• Assist with month-end close activities, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
• Support year-end close and audit preparation through documentation gathering and schedule maintenance.

Experience

• 1-3 years of general accounting & reconciliations experience.
• Retail or multi-location experience a plus.
• SAP or similar ERP experience strongly preferred; e-commerce reconciliation experience beneficial.

Technical Skills

• Advanced Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, reconciliation templates).
• Strong reconciliation and high-volume transactional accounting skills.
• Ability to work across POS systems, ERP platforms, and merchant service portals preferred.

Compensation:

$60,000 - $70,000

Salary is based on a range of factors that include relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job-related qualifications.
