Job description

This position is an entry-level role designed for early-career professionals. We are seeking a high-energy Junior Accountant to join Rhoback’s accounting team. The Junior Accountant will assist with a variety of general accounting functions, including but not limited to, payables, receivables, expenses, and account reconciliations. This is a dynamic opportunity for a candidate to learn, grow, and expand their responsibilities as the business and team grows. The Junior Accountant will report directly to Rhoback’s Senior Accountant.

This position will be located at Rhoback’s Charlottesville, VA headquarters. Any candidate should be prepared and energized to support Rhoback’s long-term growth trajectory in the activewear market by executing and building sustainable accounting processes.

Key responsibilities

• Support accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) processes, including reviewing invoices, assisting with payment runs, and recording cash receipts and customer payments.
• Own the employee expense report process, reviewing submissions for completeness, accuracy, and proper documentation, and ensuring expenses are coded correctly in accordance with company policy.
• Assist with the monthly close process, including preparing account reconciliations, booking routine journal entries, helping analyze variances, and completing other close-related tasks under the guidance of the Senior Accountant.
• Provide support for internal and external audits, including gathering documentation, responding to audit requests, and assisting with follow-up items.
• Support accounting for retail and e‑commerce activity, including cash transactions, refunds, gift cards, and basic revenue-related reconciliations.
• Help maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls by documenting processes and identifying opportunities to improve accuracy and efficiency as the company scales.
• Identify and help resolve basic accounting issues by investigating discrepancies and escalating more complex matters as appropriate.
• Perform additional accounting and administrative duties as assigned to support the broader accounting team.

Qualifications and competencies

• 1-2 years of work experience in an accounting-related role preferred, which may include internships.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a similar degree is required.
• Strong understanding of US GAAP.
• Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with other Microsoft Office tools required.
• Experience with ERPs and Netsuite experience preferred.
• Strong oral and written communication skills required.
• Strong organization and task management skills required.
• High attention to detail and accuracy required.
• Strong critical thinking skills required.
