Job summary

Sunstall Inc. in the DMV area seeks a licensed Journeyperson Electrician to install, maintain, and repair electrical systems on commercial projects. You will work with Lead Journeypersons and Foremen, read blueprints, and ensure code compliance while delivering quality workmanship.

This skilled trade role involves mentoring apprentices, adhering to NEC and local codes, and prioritizing safety. A valid Maryland license, clean driving record, and daily travel within the DMV are required.

Qualifications

  • Maryland Journeyperson Electrician license (or MD reciprocity).
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Strong NEC/MD/Montgomery County code knowledge required.
  • Valid driver's license with clean record.
  • Background check and drug test required.
  • Strong English communication (written and verbal).
  • Ability to travel daily within the DMV area.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems on commercial projects throughout the DMV area.
  • Read and interpret electrical drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Mentor and train assigned apprentices with safety and code compliance.
  • Coordinate with Lead Journeypersons and Foremen to meet schedule and quality expectations.
  • Maintain safe, organized work environment and communicate progress on-site.

POSITIONOVERVIEW

AsaJourneypersonElectrician,youwillbringyourlicensedskillandcraftsmanshiptocommercialelectricalprojectsthroughouttheDMVarea,workingalongsideourLeadJourneypersonsandForementoinstall,maintain,troubleshoot,andrepairelectricalsystemsinthefield.Youwillalsorunoccasionalservicecallsasschedulingandcustomerneedsrequire.Thisisaskilledtraderole—youwilldothehands-oneelectricalworkoftheprojectwithouttheresponsibilityofleadingacrewormanagingtheoveralljob.Youwill,however,mentorandtrainassignedapprenticesonthetasksyouperformtogether.Ifyoutakeprideinyourcraft,wanttokeepgrowingyourtechnicalskills,andwanttoworkforacompanythatvaluesthetrade,thisroleisforyou.

WHATYOUWILLBEDOING
  • Install,maintain,andrepairelectricalwiring,fixtures,panels,andequipmentoncommercialprojectsitesthroughouttheDMVarea.
  • Installconduitsystems,feederwire,andelectricalpanelsinaccordancewiththeNECandapplicablelocalcodes.
  • Troubleshootelectricalissueson-siteandprovideeffective,code-compliantsolutions.
  • Identifyandresolvesafetyhazardsandcodeviolationsduringeverytaskandprojectphase.
  • Readandinterpretelectricaldrawings,blueprints,andschematicstoguideinstallationandtroubleshootingwork.
  • Measure,cut,andbendconduittofitvariousinstallations.
  • PerformsafetychecksonelectricalequipmenttoensurecompliancewiththeNECandallapplicablesafetyregulations.
  • Runoccasionalcommercialorresidentialservicecallsasschedulingandcustomerneedsrequire.
  • Train,mentor,andprovidehands-onguidancetoassignedapprenticesinelectricalwork,applicablecodes,andsafeworkpractices.
  • WorkcooperativelywiththeLeadJourneypersonorForemanonassignedprojectstoexecutethedailyplanandmeetjobscheduleandqualityexpectations.
  • CommunicateproactivelywiththeLeadJourneypersonorForemanregardingprogress,on-siteissues,andanyneededmaterials.
  • Assistincoordinatingelectricalworkwithothertradesandsubcontractorson-sitetoavoidconflictsandsupportefficientexecution.
  • Maintainaclean,organized,andsafeworkenvironmentthroughouteachproject.
  • RepresenttheCompanywithprofessionalismandintegritywheninteractingwithcustomers,generalcontractors,subcontractors,andinspectors.
  • Adheretoallcompanypolicies,OSHAstandards,safetyprotocols,and,whenoperatingacompanyvehicle,allapplicablevehiclepoliciesandtrafficlaws.
REQUIREDQUALIFICATIONS
  • ValidMarylandStateJourneypersonElectricianLicense(oravalidlicensefromastatewithMarylandreciprocity),withaminimumof2yearsofcommercialelectricalfieldexperience.(Required)
  • HighSchoolDiplomaorGED.(Required)
  • StrongworkingknowledgeoftheNationalElectricalCode(NEC)andapplicableMarylandandMontgomeryCountycodes.(Required)
  • Demonstratedabilitytoreadandinterpreteelectricalblueprints,drawings,andprojectspecifications.(Required)
