Position Overview

As a Fire Alarm Technician at M.R. You will serve as a technical leader on the job site — managing materials, coordinating with subcontractors, overseeing inspections, and mentoring apprentices and helpers. If you are passionate about safety, take pride in code‑compliant work, and want to grow with a company that invests in your career, we want to hear from you.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Install, maintain, inspect, test, and troubleshoot fire alarm systems in accordance with job specifications, NFPA 72, NEC, and applicable local codes.

  • Stay current with the latest editions of NFPA 72 (National Fire Alarm and Signaling Code) and the NEC as they relate to fire alarm systems.

  • Review fire alarm drawings and project plans; assign duties to team members to execute projects efficiently and on schedule.

  • Supervise job site activities including material management, team coordination, and quality control throughout all phases of the project.

  • Collaborate with the Director of Operations — who also serves as Project Manager and oversees the commercial division — to ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and to the highest quality standards.

  • Coordinate fire alarm work with other subcontractors to ensure efficient use of time and materials.

  • Program, enable, and disable fire alarm systems as required during installation, testing, and service calls.

  • Respond to fire alarm system failures, inadvertent alarms, and emergency service calls; diagnose and resolve issues on‑site.

  • Supervise and participate in AHJ (Authority Having Jurisdiction) inspections; address any noted deficiencies promptly.

  • Order materials as needed and manage on‑site inventory throughout the duration of projects.

  • Complete and document service tickets accurately for all work performed outside of project scope or on service calls.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, vendors, and contractors to support project outcomes and long‑term business relationships.

  • Train, mentor, and provide hands‑on guidance to apprentices and helpers in fire alarm systems, codes, and best practices.

  • Adhere to all company safety policies, OSHA standards, and applicable codes at all times.

  • Perform additional tasks as needed to support project and company objectives.
