Job summary

UC Santa Barbara’s Facilities Management department is seeking a Plumber for a full‑time role at 6759 Navigator Drive, Santa Barbara. The successful candidate will read blueprints, design and repair piping systems, and ensure compliance with building and safety codes.

The plumber will install and service water, steam, sanitary, irrigation, and related piping, perform welding and soldering as needed, and support maintenance operations with a 7am–4pm schedule, Monday through Friday, plus potential

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• 3–5 years of Journeyman level experience.
• Thorough knowledge of building and safety codes.
• Ability to read blueprints and create working drawings.
• Proficiency in pipe sizing calculations for pressure and flow.
• Proficiency in welding, soldering, brazing, and installation/repair of plumbing fixtures, air compressors, pumps, steam and hot water boilers.

Responsibilities

• Design, redesign, and assemble piping systems from blueprints.
• Install and repair water, steam, sanitary, and storm drains, irrigation systems.
• Perform pipe sizing calculations for pressure and flow.
• Weld, solder, brazed connections, install plumbing fixtures, air compressors, pumps, boilers.
