Job summary

Brown & Root Industrial Services is seeking a Journeyman pipefitter with typically 3 years and above field experience. The role involves laying out, fabricating, assembling, installing and maintaining piping systems for steam, hot water, heating, cooling and production systems.

The candidate must read plans, select proper tools, and perform work independently while following safety and project rules. The position may require physical exertion and adherence to safety standards.

Qualifications

• Must have industrial pipefitter experience.
• Read and interpret instructions to document, plan and perform work.
• Plan work and select proper tools.
• Visualize layouts from plans and drawings and use appropriate tools.

Responsibilities

• Selects type and size of pipe and equipment per job specs.
• Inspects worksite for obstructions.
• Plans sequence of installation to avoid conflicts.
• Cuts pipe using hacksaw, pipe cutter, hammer and chisel, cutting torch or machine.
• Threads pipe using threading machine.
• Bends pipe by hand or with bending tools.
• Mounts pipe hangers and brackets on walls/ceiling.
• Assembles and installs pipes and fittings with proper joints.
• Secures pipes to structure with brackets and hangers.
• Installs and maintains refrigeration and air conditioning systems and controls.
• Tests piping systems for leaks by monitoring gauges.
• Welds pipe supports to structural members.
• Loads/transports/unloads materials and tools.
• Assists in lifting and positioning of pieces.
• Performs minor maintenance and cleaning of tools/equipment.
• Observe safety and project rules.
