Job summary

MasTec Industrial in Rapid City, SD is seeking an industrial equipment installer to install machinery and equipment according to layout plans, blueprints and drawings in industrial facilities. The role requires reading blueprints, using hand and power tools, and ensuring safety policies are followed.

You will work with hoists, conveyors and foundations, align equipment, and may lead a crew on hoisting tasks. Education: high school diploma; 1–3 years related experience; welding is a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• 1–3 years related experience and/or training.
• Welding experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Promote and comply with all Company and safety policies and procedures
• Read blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures
• Dismantle machines using hammers, wrenches, crowbars and other hand tools
• Move machinery and equipment using hoists, dollies, rollers and trucks
• Assemble and install equipment such as shafting, conveyors and tram rails using hand and power tools
• Construct foundation for machines using hand tools and building materials such as wood, cement and steel
• Align machines and equipment using hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, rules, micrometers and plumb bobs
• Assemble machines and bolts, welds, rivets, or otherwise fasten them to foundation or other structures using hand and power tools
• Operate engine lathe to grind, file and turn machine parts to dimensional specifications
• Repair and lubricate machines and equipment
• Select cables, ropes, pulleys, winches, blocks and sheaves according to weight and size of load to be moved
• Attach pulley and blocks to fixed overhead structures such as beams, ceilings and gin pole booms using bolts and clamps
• Attach load with grappling devices such as loops, wires, ropes and chains, to crane hook
• Set up, brace and rig hoisting equipments using hand tools and power wrenches
• Splice rope and wire cables to make or repair slings and tackle
• May direct workers engaged in hoisting of machinery and equipment
• May be required to travel to different jobsites on limited notice
• Other duties as assigned by Foreman or Superintendent
