American Lineman College (ALC) seeks a Certified Professional Journeyman Lineman Trainer to join our instructional team. This role delivers standards-based training to prepare students for careers as powerline professionals.

The candidate has 5+ years as a Journeyman Lineman, strong classroom and field teaching skills, and proficiency with iPad, PowerPoint and MS Office. CDL and Journeyman license are required.

Certified Professional Journeyman Lineman Trainer

Compensation: Competitive base salary paying**$170,560 up to $185,00 ($82 to $89 hourly equivalent)******based on performance.

Schedule: Friday through Sunday: 6:00 AM-6:00 PM

American Lineman College (ALC), a proud member of Cotulla Education, is seeking a skilled and knowledgeable Certified Professional Journeyman Lineman Trainer to join our instructional team. This position is ideal for an experienced lineman who is passionate about shaping the next generation of industry professionals through exceptional training, mentorship, and leadership.

About the Role

The Certified Professional Journeyman Lineman Trainer plays a vital role in shaping the future of the linework industry. This position is responsible for delivering engaging, standards-based instruction that equips students with the technical skills, professional behaviors, and safety practices required for success in this critical and demanding field.

As ALC continues its integration into Cotulla Education, this role will expand to support organizational growth, strengthen program alignment, and reinforce a culture centered on safety, excellence, and student achievement. Trainers serve not only as instructors, but also as mentors, role models, and ambassadors of ALC's mission and values.

Key Responsibilities
Professional Development & Industry Expertise
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, regulations, and best practices, including OSHA standards and NESC codes.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development, workshops, and conferences.
  • Promote an enthusiastic, collaborative, and solutions-oriented environment.
Instruction & Student Success
  • Deliver dynamic training through lectures, demonstrations, hands-on activities, and practical field instruction.
  • Develop and execute lesson plans aligned with learning outcomes and industry standards.
  • Assess student learning through quizzes, tests, and skills evaluations.
  • Provide clear, constructive, and actionable feedback to support student growth.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and safety-focused learning environment.
  • Adhere to ALC policies, procedures, and the Instructor's Pledge.
  • Maintain professionalism, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
  • Ensure safety compliance at all times and prepare training areas, equipment, and materials for instruction.
Student Evaluation & Certification
  • Evaluate student performance using competency standards and clear evaluation criteria.
  • Certify skill competencies only when proficiency is demonstrated.
  • Model best practices through demonstrations and clear communication.
Operational & Organizational Responsibilities
  • Support and mentor fellow trainers to maintain a strong, collaborative culture.
  • Build, operate, and maintain training facilities and equipment to ALC's high standards.
  • Participate in community events, campus activities, and public outreach.
  • Protect the integrity of ALC's intellectual property and confidential information.
  • Serve as a brand ambassador during tours, presentations, and student interactions.
  • Embrace new challenges and contribute to team and institutional success.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Supervisory Responsibilities

The Certified Professional Trainer oversees the delivery of high-quality, standards-based training while fostering a safe, collaborative learning environment. Responsibilities may evolve as ALC's structure advances under Cotulla Education.

Qualifications
Education
  • Associate's degree preferred.
Experience & Skills
  • Journeyman Lineman with 5+ years of experience.
  • Strong instructional ability in both classroom and field settings.
  • Excellent communication skills and proficiency with technology (iPad, computers, PowerPoint, MS Office).
  • Demonstrated moral character without felony convictions.
  • Ability to proficiently climb wood poles and steel structures up to 100 feet.
  • Ability to work on utility customer property and a demonstrated record of no prior termination from employment within the line trade.
Certificates/Licenses
  • DOL or State-recognized Journeyman Lineman certificate required.
  • Class A CDL (unrestricted).
Physical Demands & Work Environment
Physical Demands
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, and lift up to 25lbs as needed.
  • Frequent bending, kneeling, reaching, and use of tools or equipment.
  • Extended periods of computer or desk work may be required.
  • Primarily classroom and office settings with periodic exposure to outdoor training environments.
Schedule
  • Friday through Sunday: 6:00 AM - 6:00 PM
Training Requirements

Participation in supervisor-assigned training, including orientation and campus operations training.

Compensation and benefits:
