Job summary

Northwest Lineman College is seeking a Training Specialist to deliver high-impact training at our Edgewater, FL campus. You’ll protect curriculum quality, instructional excellence, and professional behavior while embodying our core values.

You’ll build confidence, elevate performance, and develop “First Choice” professionals who represent NLC with pride to customers, partners, and industry leaders. We offer a structured progression path to grow into an elite educator and leader.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Journeyman Lineman or completion of a formal apprenticeship.
  • Minimum 5 years in the line trade.
  • Valid driving record; CDL class A preferred/required at some locations.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct field and classroom training.
  • Prepare for knowledge and skill delivery each term.
  • Maintain updated knowledge on all programs and catalogs.
  • Identify short falls and provide solutions to ensure readiness.
  • Work with leadership to identify and resolve areas of improvement and set goals.
  • Identify and implement innovative training approaches and materials.
  • Model teamwork and a student-first mindset and inspire others.

NLC Training Specialists play a critical role in shaping the future of our industry by delivering high-impact training that sets the standard for excellence. As a Training Specialist, you don’t just teach skills-you build confidence, elevate performance, and develop “First Choice” professionals who represent NLC with pride in front of customers, partners, and industry leaders. You’ll serve as a trusted mentor and influencer, inspiring others to achieve more than they thought possible.

We’re looking for driven coaches, leaders, and trade professionals ready to do more with their expertise. Teaching experience is not required-we invest in you from day one through NLC’s Professional Technical Educator progression program, giving you the tools, training, and mentorship to grow to an elite educator and leader to make a lasting impact.

  • ON-SITE POSITION, BASED OUT OF NLC's EDGEWATER, FL CAMPUS
  • MUST RESIDE WITHIN A 60 MILE RADIUS OF TRAINING LOCATION/ RELOCATION ASSISTANCE AVAILABLE
  • UP TO 30% TRAVEL REQUIREMENT MAY BE REQUIRED WITH THIS ROLE
In This Position You Will Have The Opportunity To
  • Conduct field and classroom training.
  • Prepare for knowledge and skill delivery each term in a proactive manner.
  • Maintain updated and current knowledge on all programs and catalogs.
  • Identify short falls and provide solutions ensuring the campus is always ready to deliver training.
  • Work with department leadership to identify and resolve areas of improvement and set professional goals.
  • Identify and recommend innovative approaches to training sessions, such as new materials, methodologies, and activities to enhance the learning experience of our students.
  • Behave in a way that encourages and inspires students and co-workers and contributes to a work environment that promotes teamwork and respect.
  • Represent a “What’s best for the student?” mindset.
Required Education & Experience
  • High School diploma or GED
  • IBEW credentialed Journeyman Lineman, or completion of a formalized apprenticeship program
  • 5 years work experience in the line trade
  • Good driving record (must be insurable)
  • Class A CDL or ability to obtain on (may be required at some NLC training locations)
Technical Requirements/ Core Competencies
  • Passion for training with ability to effectively train others in a classroom and field environment.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required NLC certifications (climbing, CPR, First Aid).
  • Proficiency in all programs and course competencies.
  • Knowledge of and/ or certifications in regulations applying to craft trades (OSHA, NECS, etc.)
  • Body weight must not exceed 265 pounds to stay compliant with OSHA fall protection requirements.
  • Personal mobility, manual dexterity, flexibility, and balance to work in a classroom or field setting, stand or sit for extended periods of time, bend and reach to move items weighing up to 65 pounds.
  • Physically capable of repeatedly performing all job functions associated with their craft.
  • Stamina to work in an outdoor environment with exposure to adverse weather conditions and noise.
  • Proficient in the use of computers with ability to easily learn and navigate new software.
  • Commitment to advance through all levels of NLC’s Professional Technical Educator (PTE) progression program.
