Job summary

Mortenson is seeking a Laborer Journeyman to assist in the preparation, handling, and supplying of materials for various crafts on construction projects, ensuring timely delivery to crews and maintaining clean work zones.

Responsibilities include loading and unloading equipment, erecting scaffolding, leveling ground, tending mortar and grout, moving and placing concrete, cleaning debris, vibrating concrete, and providing guidance to less experienced workers while upholding safety and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Completion of two-year apprenticeship program.
• Experience in construction preferred.
• Ability to work with tools and equipment such as power and non-powered hand tools, vibrators, pumps, drills, and jackhammers; forklifts, skid loaders, and power buggies.
• Strong teamwork orientation; positive attitude and professional customer service skills; detail orientation; active listening skills and effective communication, including an openness to diverse input and feedback.
• Repetitive hand, arm, leg movements.
• Lifting, carrying, pushing: up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload equipment.
• Erect and dismantle scaffolding (5X7X16) and staging.
• Level ground for scaffolding.
• Tend mortar and grout.
• Lift, unload, move, set, and shovel mortar and grout between wheelbarrows and buckets.
• General cleanup and clearing of debris, including sweeping, cleaning, washing, and unloading or burning debris.
• Place, push, pull, and shovel concrete.
• Vibrate concrete.
• Provide work direction and guidance to Laborer I, II, Helpers, and Apprentice.
• Effectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels.
• All other duties as assigned.
