Job summary

Mortenson is seeking a Laborer Journeyman to assist with preparation, handling, and supplying materials for other crafts. Responsibilities include loading/unloading, scaffolding, leveling, tending mortar, moving concrete, cleanup, and directing junior workers.

The role emphasizes teamwork, safety, and effective communication, with benefits through the union and opportunities for job training. Visa sponsorship is not offered.

Qualifications

• Completion of two-year apprenticeship program.
• Experience in construction preferred.
• Ability to work with tools and equipment such as power and non-powered hand tools, vibrators, pumps, drills, and jackhammers; forklifts, skid loaders, and power buggies.
• Strong teamwork orientation; positive attitude and professional customer service skills; detail orientation; active listening skills and effective communication, including an openness to diverse input and feedback.
• Repetitive hand, arm, leg movements.
• Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling: up to 50 lbs.
• Please note: this position description may change; duties may be added as needed.
• Lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling over 50 lbs will be done with assistance.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload equipment.
• Erect and dismantle scaffolding (5X7X16) and staging.
• Level ground for scaffolding.
• Tend mortar and grout.
• Lift, unload, move, set, and shovel mortar and grout between wheelbarrows and buckets.
• General cleanup and clearing of debris, including sweeping, cleaning, washing, and unloading or burning debris.
• Place, push, pull, and shovel concrete.
• Vibrate concrete.
• Provide work direction and guidance to Laborer I, II, Helpers, and Apprentice.
• Effectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels.
• All other duties as assigned.
