Job summary

TIC - The Industrial Company is seeking a skilled Steel Erector to layout, install, assemble and erect structural steel in accordance with blueprints and industry standards. Work includes reading plans, positioning units, and directing hoisting operations on busy industrial sites.

Candidates should have field experience, strong tool knowledge, and the ability to work outdoors in varying weather. This full-time, on-site role requires lifting, climbing and overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with experience in the field or related area.
• Strong working knowledge and abilities for the position.
• Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions and communicate effectively with management/supervision.
• Proficient in safe and efficient use of electrical, hand, power, layout and measurement tools.

Responsibilities

• Reads specifications or blueprints to determine material locations, quantities, and sizes.
• Fabricates metal parts such as frames, columns, beams, or girders per blueprints or supervisors' instructions.
• Unloads and positions prefabricated steel units for hoisting; signals operators to lift and position members.
• Verifies alignment of structural steel members using plumb bobs, laser equipment, transits or levels.
• Cuts, bends or welds steel pieces using shears, torches, or welding equipment.
• Moves structural steel members into final positions using turnbuckles, jacks, or hand tools.
• Bolts structural members in place for riveting, bolting, or welding.
• Assembles hoisting equipment or riggings to move heavy equipment or materials.
• Estimating sizes, distances, and quantities; computing time, costs, and resources for activities.
• Inspect subordinate's work for contract compliance and correct deficiencies.
