Job summary

TIC - The Industrial Company is hiring a skilled structural steel erector to lay out, install and align steel components per blueprints and industry standards. You will fabricate, weld, and position steel members with cranes and rigging, ensuring accurate alignment and safe completion of tasks.

The role requires reading blueprints, using measurement tools, and coordinating with supervisors to meet project specifications. Long, outdoor industrial shifts with overtime may be required.

Qualifications

• Strong working knowledge for the position.
• Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions and communicate effectively with management/supervision.
• Proficient in the safe and efficient use of electrical, hand tools, power tools and layout tools as well as measurement tools.

Responsibilities

• Reads specifications or blueprints to determine material requirements.
• Fabricates metal parts according to blueprints or supervisor instructions.
• Unloads and positions prefabricated steel units for hoisting and hoists beams, girders or columns using cranes or signaling equipment.
• Verifies vertical and horizontal alignment of structural steel members using plumb bobs, laser equipment, transits or levels.
• Cuts, bends or welds steel pieces using shears, torches or welding equipment.
• Positions structural steel members using turnbuckles, crowbars, jacks or hand tools.
• Bolts aligned structural-steel members for permanent riveting, bolting or welding.
• Assembles hoisting equipment or riggings to move heavy equipment or materials.
• Estimates sizes, distances and quantities and determines time, costs, resources needed.
• Inspects subordinates' work for compliance and corrects deficiencies.
