Responsibilities

• Reads specifications or blueprints to determine locations and quantities of material.
• Fabricates metal parts according to blueprints or supervisor instructions.
• Unloads and positions prefabricated steel units for hoisting and positions beams with cranes.
• Verifies alignment of steel members using plumb bobs, lasers, or levels.
• Cuts, bends, or welds steel pieces with torches or welding equipment.
• Assembles hoisting equipment to move heavy materials on site.
• Estimates sizes, distances, and quantities for work activities.
• Inspects subordinates' work for compliance with plans and specs.
