Job summary

TIC Inc in Louisiana is seeking a skilled construction metal worker to perform layout, installation and erection of structural steel components in accordance with blueprints and specs.

You will read specs, fabricate metal parts, hoist and position steel members, verify alignment, weld and bolt pieces, and ensure safety at the jobsite. Candidates should have a high school diploma or equivalent and be able to stand for long periods, work irregular hours, and pass safety testing.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with experience preferred.
• Strong working knowledge and abilities for the position.
• Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions.

Responsibilities

• Reads specifications or blueprints to determine locations, quantities, or sizes of material required.
• Fabricates metal parts per blueprints or supervisor instructions.
• Unloads and positions prefabricated steel units with hoisting equipment.
• Verifies vertical and horizontal alignment using plumb bobs, laser, transits, or levels.
• Cuts, bends, or welds steel pieces with torches or welding equipment.
• Moves structural steel components into final positions using turnbuckles, crowbars, jacks, or hand tools.
• Bolts structural members in place for riveting, bolting, or welding.
• Assemble hoisting equipment or rigging to move heavy equipment or materials.
• Estimating sizes, distances, and quantities; determining time, costs, resources, or materials.
• Inspect subcontractors' work for compliance and correct deficiencies.
