Job summary

TIC - The Industrial Company in Mississippi is seeking a skilled steel erector to layout, install, assemble, and erect structural steel according to blueprints and industry standards. The role involves lifting with cranes, aligning members, and welding or bolting components as required.

The candidate will work on industrial site projects, may require irregular hours including weekends, and must follow safety and project rules. Prior field experience is essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred with field experience.
• Strong working knowledge for the position.
• Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions and communicate with supervision.
• Proficient in safe and efficient use of electrical, hand, power, layout and measurement tools.

Responsibilities

• Read specifications or blueprints to determine locations, quantities, or sizes of material.
• Fabricate metal parts such as steel frames, columns, beams, or girders per blueprints.
• Unload and position prefabricated steel units for hoisting and guide crane operators.
• Verify vertical and horizontal alignment of steel members using plumb bobs or lasers.
• Cut, bend, or weld steel pieces with appropriate tools.
• Position structural members for bolting, riveting, or welding.
• Assemble hoisting equipment and riggings to move heavy materials.
• Estimate time, costs, resources, and materials for work.
• Inspect subordinates' work for contract compliance and correct as needed.
