Job summary

TIC - The Industrial Company in Abilene, TX is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator. You will operate power construction equipment to excavate, move and grade material, and perform routine maintenance.

The role requires intermediate experience, ability to work outdoors in all weather, and flexibility for overtime, nights, and weekends. A high school diploma or equivalent and strong communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions.
• Experience with heavy construction equipment preferred.
• Ability to operate outdoors in all weather.

Responsibilities

• Operate vehicles and large heavy equipment while performing maintenance and repairs on roads and rights-of-way including loading, hauling and dumping on smooth to extremely rough surfaces.
• Load gravel, dirt and sand; smooth and grade roads; spread rock and gravel.
• Trench and construct ditches for installation of culverts, water pipes and sewer pipes; remove silt and debris.
• Check and maintain all fluid levels and lubrication.
• Instruct and train employees in the safe operation of construction equipment and tools and in job techniques and skills.
• Inspect equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.
