Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; prior field experience preferred.
• Strong ability to read instructions and communicate with supervision.
• Proficient use of electrical and hand tools, power tools, and layout tools.
• Must meet physical requirements and be able to work outdoors in all weather.

Responsibilities

• Operate various power construction equipment to excavate, move, and grade material.
• Load gravel, dirt, and sand; smooth and grade roads; spread rock and gravel.
• Trench and construct ditches for culverts and pipes; remove silt and debris.
• Check and maintain fluid levels and lubrication on equipment.
• Instruct and train employees in safe operation of equipment and techniques.
• Inspect equipment, structures, or materials for defects or issues.
• Estimate sizes, distances, and quantities for work activities.
• Review subordinate work for compliance with plans and specifications.
