Job summary

TIC - The Industrial Company in Abilene, Texas is seeking an experienced Equipment Operator Journeyman to operate power construction equipment, excavate, move and grade material on roads and rights-of-way. You will load gravel, dirt and sand, trench for culverts and pipes, and inspect equipment while following safety and project rules.

Must be able to work irregular hours, weekends, overtime and holidays as required, and pass pre-access drug and background checks.

Qualifications

• Experience as Equipment Operator Journeyman in a Power Plant / Industrial setting.
• Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions and communicate effectively with management/supervision.
• Proficient in the safe and efficient use of electrical, hand tools, power tools and layout tools as well as measurement tools.

Responsibilities

• Operate a variety of vehicles and large heavy equipment ensuring road and rights-of-way maintenance.
• Load gravel, dirt and sand; smooth and grade roads; spread rock and gravel.
• Trench and construct ditches for culverts, water pipes and sewer pipes; remove silt and debris.
• Check fluid levels and lubrication; maintain equipment.
• Instruct and train employees in safe operation of construction equipment and job techniques.
• Inspect equipment, structures, or materials to identify defects and determine corrective actions.
