Job summary

Amteck is seeking a Journeyman Electrician 1 (J1) who works under a Foreman or Superintendent and may oversee a small crew of Helpers, Apprentices, or other J1’s. The role involves installation, alteration and repair of electrical systems, conductors and equipment, with opportunities to learn across divisions like low voltage, controls, and fire alarm.

Qualifications

• 5-7 years of experience performing electrical construction in commercial and/or industrial environments.
• Demonstrate the Amteck Way in daily work activities, behavior and decision making.
• Able to work project schedules including weekends and overtime.
• Willing to participate in field training (OJT, classroom-based, or virtual).
• Ability to read and understand project specifications, blueprints and schematics.
• Demonstrate a team-player mentality and work safely.

Responsibilities

• Measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble and install electrical conduit using hand tools and benders.
• Install and terminate electrical devices, fixtures, panels, and conductors.
• Demonstrate working knowledge of circuiting.
• Read project specs, blueprints, and schematics.
• Lay out small work areas from drawings including underground layouts.
• Determine wire, conduit and junction box sizing.
• Perform basic troubleshooting of lighting and power circuits.
• Lead and mentor Helpers and Apprentices on the job site.
