Job summary

Amteck is seeking a Journeyman Electrician 1 (J1) to work under a Foreman or Superintendent, potentially supervising a small crew. The role covers installation, alteration and repair of electrical systems, conductors and equipment, with opportunities to learn other divisions such as low voltage, controls, and fire alarm.

You will read project specs, blueprints, lay out work, size components, troubleshoot circuits, and mentor Helpers and Apprentices on site.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years of experience performing electrical construction in commercial and/or industrial environments.
• Ability to read and interpret project specifications, blueprints and schematics.
• Willingness to learn and grow in other divisions such as low voltage, controls and fire alarm.

Responsibilities

• Measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble and install electrical conduit using measuring devices and hand or mechanical tools.
• Install and terminate electrical devices, fixtures, panels and feeders.
• Demonstrate working knowledge of circuiting and read construction drawings.
• Lay out small work areas from electrical drawings and project documents.
• Determine wire, conduit and junction box sizing accurately.
• Troubleshoot lighting and general power circuits.
• Lead and mentor Helpers and Apprentices on the job site.
