Job summary

Mercul is seeking a remote reporter to evaluate AI-generated news stories, analyses, and scripts for quality and accuracy. You will review journalistic artifacts and provide expert feedback to improve AI model performance and storytelling clarity.

Ideal candidates have 4+ years in news reporting or related roles, strong written English, and can commit 20+ hours per week on a contract basis for 4–6 weeks. This role offers task-based payments with potential hourly work after initial tasks.

Type: Contract

Compensation: $70–$110/hour

Location: Remote

Duration: 4–6 weeks

Commitment: 20+ hours/week

Role Responsibilities

• Evaluate AI-generated news stories , analyses, scripts, and other journalistic artifacts for quality and accuracy.
• Compare AI-generated responses based on reporting rigor, editorial soundness, and clarity of narration.
• Review journalistic scenarios involving story selection, source evaluation, fact interpretation, and presentation choices. Provide expert feedback.
• Work independently and asynchronously to meet deadlines while improving AI model performance.

Qualifications Must-Have

• 4+ years of experience as a Reporter, News Reporter, News Anchor, Staff Writer, Journalist, or another closely related news or journalism role.
• Experience writing, narrating, or analyzing news stories, reviews, or commentary for print, broadcast, or other communications media.
• Ability to commit 20+ hours per week.
• Strong written English communication skills.

• Immediate Compensation & Legal
• Payment: task-based (payment upon first task approval). Experts who complete their first task within the required timeline will then be qualified to be paid hourly for the remainder of the project.
