Job summary

Ford is seeking a Welding Engineer to lead joining activities for multiple new model launches and to maintain stringent weld quality across production lines. The role focuses on applying welding processes, certifying welds, and steering an inspection team to ensure manufacturing excellence.

The ideal candidate will have a mechanical/electrical welding background, proficiency with office tools, and hands-on experience in high-volume automotive environments.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent required.
• At least 1 year of experience with Microsoft Office.
• Knowledge of mechanical joining, AC/DC, resistance spot welding, sealers and adhesives.
• Experience in a high-volume production environment is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead weld joining activities for new model launches.
• Assess joining feasibility through product milestones.
• Apply welding processes, equipment and evaluation techniques to deliver weld quality objectives.
• Implement weld certification strategy during launches and changes events.
• Lead weld inspection team.
• Develop weld control plans and enforce requirements.
• Apply engineering principles to improve processes and products.
• Implement corrective actions using 8D, 6-panel, etc.
• Identify sources of variation in production.
• Support expedited concern resolution with cross-functional teams.
• Review incoming quality concerns and initiate containment.
