Job summary

Volunteer Materials is seeking an experienced accounting professional to lead job costing and project cost tracking across active operations. You will analyze margins and inputs, own WIP/POC reporting, and partner with field leaders to ensure accurate data for monthly closes.

The role emphasizes improving reporting cadence, SOP development, budgeting support, and ERP optimization, with strong Excel/analytical skills and a self-starter mindset driving process improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Construction Management, or related field.
• 5+ years of accounting, cost accounting, or project accounting experience.
• Background in construction, asphalt, paving, aggregates, manufacturing, or similar industries preferred.
• Experience with WIP and Percentage of Completion accounting strongly preferred.
• ERP experience required; Viewpoint Vista Construction experience highly preferred.
• Exposure to DOT / infrastructure projects is a plus.
• Strong Excel and analytical skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with both field personnel and executive leadership.
• Self-starter mentality with desire to build and improve processes.

Responsibilities

• Develop and refine SOPs, controls, and reporting processes.
• Assist leadership with budgeting, forecasting, and KPI development.
• Support ERP optimization and data integrity initiatives.
• Provide actionable insights to operations and executive leadership teams.
