Job summary

Our client, a rapidly growing residential construction company in Plano, TX, seeks an Accounting Manager to strengthen accounting processes and provide financial visibility. This hands-on role will lead the close, oversee job costing, and partner with project teams to improve margins and reporting.

The ideal candidate has 5–8 years in accounting with a construction focus, ERP experience (BC/Dynamics/Sage), strong Excel skills, and a CPA is a plus but not required.

Qualifications

• 5–8 years of progressive accounting experience, with construction accounting emphasis.
• Experience with job costing, WIP, and percent-of-completion accounting.
• Experience with monthly close, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis.
• ERP experience: Microsoft Business Central, Dynamics AX/Navision or Sage.
• Strong Excel and analytical skills.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with accounting and operations.
• CPA is a plus, but not required.
• Comfortable in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead the monthly close process, including journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and financial reporting
• Oversee construction job costing, WIP, percentage-of-completion accounting, and job profitability
• Partner with Project Managers and Operations to monitor labor, materials, subcontractors, change orders, and project margins
• Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and KPIs
• Monitor AR, AP, cash flow, collections, and working capital
• Identify margin risks, reporting issues, and opportunities for process improvement
• Maintain accurate cost codes, job setup, and financial data within the ERP
• Support audits and strengthen internal accounting controls and processes
• Lead, mentor, and develop a small accounting team
• Serve as a financial partner to operational and executive leadership
