Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.
• 3+ years of accounting experience preferred.
• Experience with project accounting, job costing, or construction accounting.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles, reconciliations, project cost tracking, and financial reporting.
• Ability to analyze financial results, investigate variances, and communicate findings effectively.

Responsibilities

• Maintain project accounting records including costs, billings, invoices, change orders, and documentation.
• Partner with project managers and operations to review performance, budgets, forecasts, and margin trends.
• Prepare project financial reporting, cost-to-complete analysis, variances, and profitability summaries.
• Support monthly close: journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and WIP/deferred revenue schedules.
• Calculate percent complete and ensure ASC 606 revenue recognition.
• Review A/P coding and documentation for project assignment accuracy.
• Assist with customer invoicing, collections, and A/R reconciliations.
• Analyze cost variances and identify risks and corrections.
• Prepare schedules and docs for audits and year-end.

Our client, a well-established, growing organization, is seeking an experienced Accountant to handle all job costing and project accounting functions. This position reports to the Corporate Accounting Manager and will play an important role in maintaining accurate project financials while partnering closely with project management and operations.

The Construction Accountant will be responsible for project cost tracking, customer billing, financial reporting, margin analysis, and month-end accounting activities. Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate project accounting records, including project costs, customer billings, vendor invoices, change orders, and supporting documentation.
• Partner with project managers and operations to review project performance, budgets, forecasts, committed costs, and margin trends.
• Prepare project financial reporting, including cost-to-complete analysis, variance explanations, and profitability summaries.
• Support the monthly close process, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and WIP or deferred revenue schedules.
• Calculate % of completion and ensure proper revenue recognition in accordance with ASC 606
• Review project-related A/P coding and documentation for accuracy and appropriate project assignment.
• Assist with customer invoicing, billing support, collections, cash application, and A/R reconciliations.
• Analyze project cost variances and identify potential issues, risks, and necessary corrections.
• Prepare project accounting schedules and documentation for internal reporting, annual audits, and year-end activities.
• Assist with process improvements designed to strengthen accounting controls, reporting accuracy, and communication across departments.
