Job summary

Learning To Thrive in Grass Valley, CA is seeking a full-time Job Coach to support adults with developmental disabilities. In this role, you'll provide advocacy and assistance in employment-related activities while ensuring participant safety. Responsibilities include developing individualized support plans, leading activities, and collaborating with participants' support networks. The position offers a competitive salary of $19.00 – $21.00 per hour, with health and vision insurance included. An ideal candidate will have strong leadership and communication skills, and must be at least 18 years old.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 18 years old at the time of hire.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certifications are required.
  • Proof of passing a pre-placement physical and back assessment.

Job description

Learning to Thrive is seeking full‑time (30–35 hours per week) Job Coaches to provide support and advocacy for adults with developmental disabilities. This open position is for our new location in Grass Valley, CA.


The Job Coach provides unconditional and exceptional assistance to all participants requiring help with employment and related activities, activity inclusion and appropriate social inclusion. The Job Coach ensures the safety of all participants at all times and reports to the Program Instructor/Case Manager, Job Developer, Program Coordinator, and Program Director.


Summary of Job Duties


  • Develop and implement assistance to support development and growth in various employment/pre‑employment skills

  • Be competent in leading, directing, and facilitating activities for participants

  • Provide leadership and guidance to staff members serving in a support role

  • Create an outcome‑based individualized plan that meets the needs of the individual being served

  • Perform necessary documentation (daily documentation, case notes, etc.) as assigned/required

  • Determine the participants the Coach is responsible for

  • Complete necessary documentation legibly and completely within the timeframe stated by management

  • Support Program Instructor(s), Case Managers, and Program Assistants during activity period(s) by providing assistance to individuals

  • Collaborate with the participant and their support network

  • Ensure participants receive optimal support to achieve desired outcomes

  • Provide training, guidance, and support to newly hired or current team members in the areas of effective activity implementation, participant engagement, and participants’ special needs

  • Ensure new team members are aware of the specific learning styles of each participant

  • Ensure new team members are aware of specific strategies in place to optimize each participant’s learning experience


Additional Expectations


  • Use sound judgment at all times

  • Follow written and verbal directions in English

  • Speak clearly and succinctly in English, audible across a normal noise level in the Day Program environment

  • Effectively use basic computer programs (MS Office, Internet, Email)

  • Type documents (approx. 30 words per minute) and save to appropriate locations

  • Stand, sit, and walk for extended periods of time throughout the entire workday

  • Lift and carry up to 25 lbs independently

  • Offer exceptional customer service to staff members, participants, family members, care providers, Regional Center representatives, community members, and others

  • Participate in all staff meetings and trainings per management request, or acquire meeting/training materials and demonstrate adequate knowledge and understanding of materials


Job Requirements


  • Minimum 18 years old at the time of hire

  • Proof of clearance through the Department of Justice via Livescan

  • Department of Motor Vehicle (MVR) report

  • Current certificates in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Standard First Aid (SFA)

  • Proof of passing a pre‑placement physical and back assessment

  • Proof of negative TB test within the past twelve months
