Job summary

Quest Global is seeking a Java Back end Engineer for an on-site role in Cupertino, CA. You will design, build, and enhance Java-based back-end services, collaborating with stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable modules and robust architectures.

The position emphasizes strong Java/Spring expertise and hands-on development across the full software lifecycle. The ideal candidate will have 8–12 years of backend experience, be comfortable with RESTful services, SQL databases, and DevOps

Qualifications

• 8-12 years of experience designing and developing backend applications.
• Strong experience with Java, Spring, and Spring Boot.
• Proficient in consuming REST APIs and handling HTTP responses.
• Experience with relational databases (SQL).
• Experience with Git, bug tracking, and collaborating with a software team.
• Familiar with containerization and DevOps processes (Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, CI/CD).
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Estimate, plan, and implement Java back end applications.
• Work closely with stakeholders to gather requirements to build new modules or improve existing modules.
• Evaluate, maintain and improve existing code base to ensure that it is properly structured and utilize software engineering best practices.
• Troubleshoot, identify, and research reported issues, and have the ability to provide recommendations by comparing advantages and disadvantages of various solutions.
• Stay on top of new technologies and tools, and adopt relevant ones to the team.
• Participate in peer reviews, learn and apply software engineering best practices to your work.
• Accountable for meeting assigned project objectives and timelines.
• Set engineering vision and direction for existing and future applications.

What You Will Do

What You Will Bring

• 8 - 12 Years of experience in designing and developing back end applications
• Experience with designing and developing web applications with an emphasis on frontend
• Strong experience with back end technologies and frameworks - Java, Spring, Spring Boot
• Proficient with consuming REST APIs and handling all HTTP responses
• Experience with backend web services frameworks
• Some experience with relational databases - SQL
• Strong experience with Git, Bug tracking, and collaborating with a software team
• Basic understanding of Containerization and DevOps processes (Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, CI/CD)
• Strong debugging and diagnostic skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Excellent multi-tasking and organizational skills
• Excellent problem solving and analytical thinking skills
• Self-directed, analytical, and collaborative with a constant desire to learn, improve, and make things better
• Experience working with a cross-disciplinary team of PMs, designers and other developers

Pay Range: $100,000-$115,000 per annum

Compensation decisions are made based on factors including experience, skills, education, and other job-related factors, in accordance with our internal pay structure. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, paid time off, and retirement plan.

Work Requirements

This role is considered an on-site position located in Cupertino, CA, USA

• You must be able to commute to and from the location with your own transportation arrangements to meet the required working hours.
• Shop floor environment, which may include but not limited to extensive walking, and ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
