Job summary

Farmers Mutual Hail Insurance Company is seeking a qualified undergraduate for its 2027 Summer Internship Program in West Des Moines, IA. The internship runs May 17–August 6, up to 40 hours per week, with potential to convert to full-time. Candidates should be enrolled sophomores to seniors in CS/MIS or math with technical coursework and have Java experience.

The role is on-site (not remote) with campus-like IT work and opportunities for future growth within the company.

Qualifications

• Currently-enrolled undergraduates (Sophomore to Senior).
• Majoring in Computer Science or MIS; or Math with technical coursework.
• Experience with Java is essential; familiarity with SQL and OO concepts is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates, clarifies, and understands requirements, documents, and functional specifications.
• Codes software in accordance with specifications using Java.
• Validates software and ensures compliance with specifications.
• Creates, updates, and maintains development documentation.
• Interacts with IT department staff and follows IT processes.
