Job summary

Farmers Mutual Hail Insurance Company in West Des Moines, IA is offering a 2027 Summer Internship for currently enrolled undergraduates. The paid program runs May 17 to August 6, up to 40 hours per week, with potential to transition to a full-time, permanent position.

You will work with our teams to develop requirements, participate in Agile ceremonies, and support product backlog management in a collaborative, office-based environment.

Qualifications

• Must be currently enrolled as a sophomore, junior or senior.
• Majoring in MIS, Computer Science, Business or related degree.
• May 2027 graduates will not be eligible.

Responsibilities

• Assists in creating and refining user stories by incorporating business feedback.
• Participates in Agile Scrum ceremonies: Daily Stand-Ups, Sprint Planning, Sprint Reviews, Retrospectives and Backlog Refinement.
• Assists Product Owners with the discovery process on projects.
• Assists with managing and prioritizing the product backlog.
• Assists with managing and prioritizing defect and system support work.
• Observes communication between Agile/Project Teams and key stakeholders.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.

Farmers Mutual Hail (located in West Des Moines, IA) is currently looking for a qualified undergraduate to join our 2027 Summer Internship Program. This is a paid internship starting Monday, May 17 through Friday, August 6, working up to 40 hours per week for the summer, with the potential to turn into a full‑time, permanent position in the future.

We are looking for currently-enrolled college students who are close to the West Des Moines area, as this is not a remote internship.

Requirements

Education:

Must be a currently-enrolled sophomore, junior or senior at an undergraduate college or university majoring in MIS, Computer Science, Business or related degree. (May 2027 graduates will not be eligible).
